Our Special Team

Yetty is a mother of 12 who started her midwifery career when nearing the end of her own childbearing years. Her last 4 babies were born at home into the hands of loving midwives. After attending the birth of her first granddaughter in 1997, Yetty felt the calling to be the midwife, supporting women choosing to give birth at home. She took the apprentice model and became a CPM in 2008, starting to work as a community midwife. After taking the AMCB boards in 2012, she was granted NYS licensure as a CM, enabling her to continue to serve the community as an independent practitioner. Yetty is passionate about supporting women in their most precious and vulnerable times of birthing. She is also actively encouraging, guiding, and precepting young aspiring student-midwives in the community. When not attending births, Yetty is busy hosting her large family, cooking and serving big meals.

LM, CM - Founder

Kate joined the BSD team in January, 2023, bringing her knowledge, experience, and love for birth to help support families in the home, birth center, and hospital settings. Community birth settings are close to her heart, as her first son was born in a freestanding birth center, and her second and third sons were born at home, all under the care of midwives. After the empowering birth of her first son she felt the call to midwifery and went back to school, first becoming a child/adolescent psychiatric nurse and working as a doula (attending close to 100 births). When her youngest was 8 weeks old she started midwifery school and throughout the program she worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 3 years. She then spent the last 6 years working for a midwifery practice in New Jersey where she personally attended over 700 births in the hospital and birth center settings (and a few home births). Kate is a native of New York, she loves to be outside, preferably out hiking in a forest or swimming or running a Spartan race. She is an animal lover and has been vegan for 16 years. She loves going to the movies, exercising, sitting by a warm fire, and spending time with her family and 2 dogs and a cat. Her primary goal as a midwife is to provide compassionate care and listen to families, educate and empower them, and help support their choices.

Chaya’s passion for helping mothers have a successful breastfeeding experience stems from her strong belief that Hashem makes no mistakes. As she fought her own nursing battles while mothering her eight children, and seeing the siyata dishmaya when persevering for what’s best, she slowly became a source of support for family and friends. After joining La Leche League as an official leader and becoming a Lactation Peer Counselor to help the community at a broader scale, she decided to throw herself into hands-on training and formal education to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Chaya is one of the pioneers experiencing homebirth in the Monsey community as a client of this practice.  She now gives her heart and soul to all of BSD’S clients that wish to extend their magical birth experience into a wonderful breastfeeding one as well.  Besides being a mother 24/7, in-between lactation sessions you can find Chaya doing kiruv rechokim, teaching dance or getting inspired at her EmunaCorner group.
